What is Notes from Nepal?

Notes from Nepal is an independent English-language podcast and media platform exploring the politics, culture, tourism, business and transformation shaping modern Nepal today.

Hosted by Thomas Kilroy, the project combines commentary, lived experience, interviews and storytelling to explore one of the world’s most fascinating and fast-changing countries through a more human, curious and conversational lens.

Why this podcast exists

For many people outside the country, Nepal is still seen mainly through the lens of Everest, trekking and tourism. But modern Nepal is also a country experiencing profound political, cultural and economic change.

Notes from Nepal was created to explore the stories, tensions, personalities and ideas shaping Nepal beyond the headlines - from current affairs and development to food, tourism, business, identity and everyday life in Kathmandu and beyond.
